Overview
Lowes Petroleum Service (LPS) supplies and delivers diesel to above-ground and underground fuel bays using a fit-for-purpose vehicle to complete their scope of associated services. LPS developed and built this unique vehicle in accordance with national, state, and local legislation. LPS worked with North Parkes Mine (NPM) to ensure that the fit-for-purpose vehicle met company standards and that LPS staff were competent to drive underground in line with NPM training regimes.
Challenge
North Parkes Mine needed a reliable and safe method to transport diesel to both above ground and underground fuel bays. The existing methods posed risks and inefficiencies, particularly in the underground environment.
Solution
LPS developed a bespoke vehicle specifically designed to meet the unique requirements of NPM. This vehicle was built in compliance with all relevant legislation and tailored to the specific needs of the mining operation. LPS also ensured that their staff received the necessary training to operate the vehicle safely and efficiently in the underground environment.
Result:
The introduction of the bespoke vehicle resulted in safer and more timely fuel delivery, significantly mitigating the risks associated with fuel transport underground. This innovation has set a new standard in the region and industry, showcasing LPS’s commitment to safety and efficiency.
